PoE+ (802.3at) extends the original PoE standard (802.3af) from 15.4W to 30W per port, supporting higher-powered devices such as IP PTZ cameras, advanced access points, and full-featured IP door entry stations. The TL-SG1008MP provides PoE+ on all eight ports rather than a subset, meaning every connected device has access to the full 30W individual port budget.
The 153W total PoE budget covers up to eight devices at typical PoE camera and access point power draws: a standard IP dome camera typically draws 6-12W, an access point 15-20W, and a PoE access control reader 3-5W. A mixed installation of cameras and access points can comfortably operate within the 153W total budget.
Unmanaged operation means no configuration is required: connect power, connect the uplink to the network router or managed switch, and connect PoE devices to the remaining ports. All devices receive IP addresses from the network DHCP server and are immediately reachable on the network.
This is a significantly more capable product than the TL-SG105 (5-port non-PoE, also in this range): the SG1008MP provides eight ports and full PoE+ powering for all connected devices, making it the appropriate choice for security and network installations where cameras and other powered devices need both data and power from the switch.
For desktop placement the unit fits on a shelf; rack ears are included for 19-inch rack mounting.
