The TL-SG105 is TP-Link’s entry-level 5-port desktop switch, providing additional network ports at positions where only one wall outlet exists but multiple devices need network connections. A printer, PC, IP phone, and a desk-mounted access control reader, for example, can all connect through the single wall outlet via the switch.
Unmanaged operation means the switch requires no configuration: plug in the uplink from the wall outlet (or existing switch), connect devices to the remaining ports, and all devices communicate through the switch with no setup required. This simplicity makes the TL-SG105 appropriate for end-users and simple installer applications where VLAN management, QoS, and advanced traffic management are not needed.
All five ports are Gigabit capable (10/100/1000Mbps auto-negotiation), providing 1Gbps throughput to all connected devices rather than bottlenecking at 100Mbps.
The compact desktop form factor requires no mounting or rack installation, making it suitable for desk positions, shelf mounting, and placing near the devices it connects.
For TP-Link managed switches with PoE capability for IP cameras and access points, the TL-SG108PE and TL-SG1008MP series provide managed PoE options for more complex security and network installations.
