Zone expanders extend the detection capacity of an alarm panel beyond its built-in zone count. The EURO-ZEM8 connects to the EuroMax panel’s expander bus and provides 8 additional zones that appear in the panel’s configuration and management as standard panel zones, with all the programming, zone type, and event logging capability of built-in zones.
Double pole zone monitoring is the functional differentiator of the EURO-ZEM8: each zone monitors the alarm and tamper circuits of the connected detector separately, providing better fault detection than single pole zones. If a detector’s tamper contact is disturbed, the double pole zone identifies it as a tamper event on that specific zone rather than generating a general panel fault, providing more specific fault reporting during maintenance and testing.
The boxed format means the EURO-ZEM8 is supplied with its own enclosure for surface or DIN rail mounting at a position convenient for the detectors it will serve, rather than requiring mounting on the panel’s circuit board. This allows the expander to be located close to the group of detectors it connects to, reducing the cable runs from those detectors compared to bringing all wires back to the main panel position.
For Pyronix EuroMax alarm engineers expanding zone capacity on commercial and residential installations across London and the UK where additional double pole zones are required beyond the panel’s built-in count, the EURO-ZEM8 provides the 8-zone expander for this application.
Key Features
- Adds 8 double pole zones to Pyronix EuroMax panels via expander bus
- Double pole: monitors alarm and tamper circuits independently per zone
- Improved fault isolation versus single pole zone expanders
- Boxed with its own enclosure for mounting close to detector groups
- Expanded zones behave identically to built-in panel zones in programming
- Reduces cable runs by allowing remote mounting near the detectors served
