Traditional surveillance of large outdoor areas requires either multiple fixed cameras at different focal lengths or a separate overview camera alongside a PTZ unit. The Dahua X-Spans combines both functions in a single device: an 8MP panoramic sensor provides a continuous wide-angle overview of the full scene, while the integrated 4MP 25x optical zoom PTZ sensor can be directed at any point within that overview to provide close-up detail.

This dual-sensor approach means an operator watching the overview feed can immediately direct the PTZ to zoom in on a specific person or vehicle without losing the wide-angle context. Auto-tracking can also be applied to the PTZ sensor, following a detected target automatically while the panoramic sensor continues to record the full scene.

TiOC active deterrence adds a third layer of functionality: the camera can trigger a white light and audio warning when a human or vehicle is detected within a configured zone, turning the system from a recording tool into an active deterrence measure that responds to intrusion in real time.
