The 50mm recessing bracket provides the same function as the 100mm variant but at half the recess depth: the equipment is moved 50mm back from the front rack rail position rather than 100mm. This lesser offset is appropriate when only a small setback is required.
Installation scenarios for the 50mm bracket include: minor front panel clearance to avoid contact with a cable management horizontal bar, a small setback to align the front panel with adjacent equipment of similar (but not identical) front depth, and positioning a shallow piece of equipment further into the cabinet to maintain a consistent front panel appearance alongside deeper equipment.
Where the cable management or clearance requirement is larger (100mm or more), the 100mm bracket is the correct specification. The 50mm bracket cannot be used as a substitute where 100mm clearance is actually needed.
Both the 50mm and 100mm brackets are standard 1U height, fitting into a single U space of a 19-inch rack rail pair.
