Product DescriptionProduct Details & Description

A BNC barrel coupler allows two BNC-terminated coaxial cables to be joined end to end, extending the total cable run to the combined length of both cables. This is useful when a cable run falls short of the required length and adding a second cable section with a coupler is more practical than replacing the entire run with a longer cable.

The female-to-female coupler accepts a BNC male plug at each port, so two cables with BNC male connectors at their free ends can be joined directly through the coupler body. The connection is passive and direct, passing the coaxial signal through the coupler without active electronics.

It should be noted that every connector and coupler in a coaxial cable run introduces a small amount of signal loss and a potential impedance discontinuity. For systems where signal quality over a long run is already a concern, minimising the number of couplers and connectors in the cable path is preferable to extending the run with multiple joined sections. For short extension requirements and systems with adequate signal margin, the coupler provides a straightforward and cost-effective solution.

For CCTV engineers across London and the UK who need to extend an existing coaxial cable run or repair a damaged cable section by bridging between the existing cable and a new section, the BNC female-to-female coupler provides the connection point.
