The difference between a 110dB sounder and a 127dB sounder is not a marginal improvement: the decibel scale is logarithmic, and a 17dB increase in output level represents a very substantial increase in acoustic energy. A 127dB sounder is audible at significantly greater distances and is better able to penetrate background noise than a standard 110dB unit.
