C-TEC CFP704-4 4 Zone Conventional Fire Alarm Panel Standard Wiring

Conventional fire alarm panels have been the standard specification in UK commercial buildings for decades and remain widely specified for buildings where the two-wire Alarmsense system is not required or not preferred, and where addressable systems are not proportionate to the building size and risk.

Four-wire conventional wiring uses separate detection zone circuits (two-wire) and sounder circuits (two-wire): the detectors and call points in each zone are wired in parallel on a two-core detection circuit, and the sounders are wired on a separate two-core sounder circuit. This architecture is well understood by all fire alarm engineers and uses standard cabling techniques.

Four zones provides appropriate coverage for medium-small buildings: a four-storey building with one zone per floor, or a two-storey building sub-divided into front/back zones on each floor, both fit within four zones. The CFP704-4 is positioned between the 2-zone CFP702-4 (smaller buildings) and an 8-zone panel for larger buildings.

The conventional panel’s principal advantage over Alarmsense two-wire is universal device compatibility: any standard conventional fire alarm detector from any manufacturer can be used on the detection circuits, providing flexibility in device selection and replacement.

Differentiations within the C-TEC CFP range: CFP704-4 is the standard version 4-zone conventional; CFP704E-4 (from a previous batch) was the economy version. Alarmsense panels (CFP708-2, CFP702-2) use different device wiring and are for a specific Apollo-compatible device range only.
