Ajax FireProtect 2 SB Wireless Smoke and Heat Detector without CO Sensing

The fire detection specification of the FireProtect 2 SB without CO is identical to the CO variant (SKU 49557): optical smoke detection for smouldering fires and heat detection for fast-flaming fires. The only difference is the absence of the CO sensing element.

Selecting the non-CO variant is appropriate in specific circumstances: rooms where there is no combustion appliance and therefore no CO risk (electric-only rooms), installations where a separate dedicated BS EN 50291 CO alarm is already fitted at the required position, or budget-constrained installations where the CO element is not specified for every device and a dedicated CO alarm covers the at-risk areas separately.

In residential properties with gas central heating or gas cooking, BS EN 50292 guidance recommends CO alarms be installed in rooms containing gas appliances and in sleeping areas. For detection positions elsewhere in the property (upper floors away from appliances, for example) the non-CO variant provides the appropriate fire detection without the additional CO cost.

The SB battery-powered design and Jeweller wireless protocol communication with the Ajax hub are identical to the CO variant.
