Cable testing after crimping is a fundamental quality step in professional network cable installation. Every RJ45 crimp connector must be tested after termination to confirm that all eight conductors have made correct contact with the IDC blades in the connector and that the wiring sequence at both ends matches. A cable that fails this test is not a functional network cable and must be re-terminated before installation.
The RJ45 cable tester works by sending a test signal through each conductor in sequence from the main tester unit (connected to one end of the cable) to the remote unit (connected to the other end). LED indicators on both units illuminate in sequence if each conductor is correctly connected through, with any failed conductor, short circuit, or crossed pair immediately visible from the indicator sequence.
RJ11 telephone cable testing is included, covering the most common telephony cable connector type alongside the network cable test function. The same principle applies: the tester confirms correct continuity through each conductor at both ends of the cable.
