Zone expanders extend the detection capacity of an alarm panel beyond its factory-installed zone count, allowing the system to grow with the building’s security requirements. The Premier Elite 8XP adds 8 zones via the panel’s expander bus, with each expanded zone behaving identically to a built-in zone in terms of zone type configuration, programming, and event logging.
For a Premier Elite 24-zone panel that has been fully populated across its 24 built-in zones, an 8XP expander adds zones 25 through 32, allowing the system to protect additional rooms, floors, or buildings within the same alarm system without replacing the control panel with a larger model.
The remote mounting capability of the 8XP means the expander can be located at a distance from the main panel, close to the group of detectors it will connect to, reducing the cable runs required to bring detector wires back to the main panel location. This is particularly useful in larger buildings where detectors in a remote wing or outbuilding would require long cable runs to the main panel.
The expander communicates with the panel via the data bus, and its 8 zones appear within the Premier Elite configuration and management interface as standard panel zones.
For Texecom-approved alarm engineers expanding zone capacity on Premier Elite system installations across London and the UK where additional zones beyond the built-in count are required, the CCB-0001 8XP provides the standard zone expansion module for the Premier Elite range.
