The passive infrared sensor detects the movement of heat sources (people) across the detection zone, with the dual-zone lens creating a detection pattern appropriate for covering an average room from a corner or wall-top mounting position. The mounting height and horizontal angle are adjustable to set the detection zone to the required coverage area.

Pet immunity is a processing feature rather than a lens physical exclusion: the detector’s signal processing distinguishes between the heat signature and movement pattern of a person and that of a smaller animal below the immunity threshold.
