Product Features:

The RJ45 Boot Black is a rubber or soft plastic strain relief sleeve that slides over a Cat5e or Cat6 cable before the RJ45 connector is crimped. The boot protects the cable-to-connector joint against repeated bending and pulling, extending the life of the crimp and preventing the cable jacket from being stripped at the connector entry point.

Product DescriptionProduct Details & Description

Strain relief boots are a professional installation accessory that protect the most vulnerable point of a network cable: the junction between the flexible cable and the rigid RJ45 connector. Without a boot, repeated cable movement at the connector entry causes the outer jacket to split and the internal conductors to flex at a sharp angle, which eventually causes cable failure at the connector.

The boot slides onto the cable before the RJ45 plug is crimped. After crimping, the boot is slid forward to cover the cable entry into the connector, where it provides a gradual bend radius transition and absorbs pulling forces before they reach the crimp contacts.

For permanent patch cable installations, strain relief boots are standard on professional-quality cables. Equipment and cable rooms where patch cables are frequently connected and disconnected particularly benefit from booted connectors, as the repeated handling accelerates jacket wear without the boot's protection.

The black colour is the most versatile and is compatible with standard professional installations and black patch cable assemblies. Boots are crimped onto the cable before the connector is fitted, so they must be slid onto the cable prior to crimping.
