Product DescriptionProduct Details & Description

The 8-way DC power splitter is appropriate for larger camera clusters where a single high-capacity PSU output can supply the combined current demand of eight cameras simultaneously. It represents the largest of the standard DC power splitting cable options, and requires careful current calculation to ensure the PSU output capacity is not exceeded.

Eight standard HD cameras at 500mA each demand 4A from the single PSU output. Using this splitter requires a PSU output rated at 5A or higher to provide a safe margin above the demand load. Using an undersized PSU output with an 8-way splitter risks overloading the output, causing voltage drop and potentially unstable or failed camera operation across all eight cameras on the chain.

When the camera cluster and PSU are correctly matched to the 8-way splitter, it provides an efficient way to power a high-density camera group — such as a ceiling array in a warehouse or a cluster on a PTZ mast — from a single PSU output without individual power cable runs per camera.

For CCTV installation engineers planning large-scale camera power distribution across London and the UK, the 8-way DC splitter is the most productive power sharing solution for camera clusters, provided the PSU output specification is confirmed before commissioning.
