IP NVRs (Network Video Recorders) record video from IP cameras transmitted over Ethernet. Unlike DVRs that receive analogue signals over coaxial cable, NVRs receive compressed video streams over Cat5e/Cat6, giving them higher resolution capability at longer cable distances (up to 100m with Cat cable vs the coax distance limits of analogue HD).
Built-in PoE ports integrate the switch function into the NVR: cameras connect directly to the NVR's PoE ports without a separate PoE switch, simplifying the installation and reducing the number of devices at the equipment position. The four built-in ports exactly match the 4-channel count, making the NVR a self-contained recording and switching unit for 4-camera installations.
12MP support means the NVR can record IP cameras at up to 12 megapixel resolution, which is higher than the 4K (8MP) maximum of the EZ-IP DVRs and represents the upper end of current IP camera resolution in the EZ-IP range.
The EZ-IP tier provides core NVR recording and remote viewing without the advanced AI analytics of Dahua's main-series NVRs. For small residential and simple commercial IP camera installations, the 4-channel PoE NVR with built-in switching provides a compact and cost-effective recording solution.
The 8-channel version (EZ-NVR1D08HS-8P) adds four more PoE channels at the same specification for larger installations.
